Use 2006-2007 Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
. FAFSA is usually available at schools
by December 1st. The filing period begins January
1, 2003. The student should keep a copy and
mail the original FAFSA form with signatures
in the envelope provided, OR file online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
2. State Aid:
“The Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) is used to apply for most state loan,
grant and scholarship programs, in addition
to the federal loans and grants. When you submit
the FAFSA to the US Department of Education,
they forward the information on the form to
the state student assistance agency.
Apply:
Each state has a different FAFSA submission
deadline. If you submit your FAFSA by March
1, you will be in time for all state deadlines,
other than Michigan. If you miss the deadline,
you will be ineligible to receive state aid
for the entire academic year.”

3. Institutional Aid:
Type: Grant/Scholarship from the college/university
itself.
Apply:
Students should inquire of the financial aid
office at each college they are interested in
and ask if the school has any applications for
other scholarships or grants that are awarded
by the school itself. In addition, many private
colleges require students to fill out another
independent financial aid form called “Profile”

college will inform the student if the Profile
form is required, and usually the student must
pay a fee to file the “Profile” form.
